2319: Fall Tilt

For the first time, I think I’m actually warning you—this week’s piece is going to be short.
As summer tilts toward fall (slowly), I’ve been reflecting on where I was a year ago. There’s a flood of images: seeing classmates on the first day, laughing and joking in the halls, fumbling through new routines, and—most importantly—learning to give myself grace.
We’re all quick to be our own toughest critic, but we often forget we have the power to be our own biggest supporter. You gain nothing from tearing yourself down, but you gain belief—and strength—when you remember to give yourself a pat on the back.
It’s Friday. Treat yourself. Take in the good things this life has to offer. Smell the roses, go for a walk, or do nothing at all—but remember, you can’t go far on an empty tank.
Peace,
Zechariah Davis
