2319: Halloween

2319: Halloween

Happy Halloween!

Fall, Fall, Fall. Well the weather is finally setting in. Wait let me not speak too soon. This time of the year everything seems to speed up. Halloween is today but the next thing you know we will be at thanksgiving with christmas looming, followed by a new year. The holidays are upon us and I love it. Holidays are the time of the year we get to see family for a longer period of time and reflect on what we have learned throughout the year. Well depending on the state you are in for christmas it may be cold and be able to have the “white christmas”. However, something I have been thinking about is how despite the coldness of the season, holidays bring a unique warmness that no other season can provide. So here’s to a lovely holiday season. P.S. It's never too early to put that tree up!!!!

A month and some change from the St. Jude marathon, where I will be running my first half-marathon and I am feeling good to put it simply. What does good really mean?? I feel back to 95% physically and 100% mentally since the flare up of achilles tendonitis. The mental hurdle was tougher to overcome than the physical. From a physical standpoint there really wasn't much to observe, just a bit of tenderness on my left achilles.

Mentally it felt as if any step I took and especially when running, I would have a devastating injury. Not true at all but I was juggling with that. That was something I just did not want to chance in the slightest. I took two full weeks off and got a treatment plan from my eldest sister and that was the most reassuring thing because her prescription was to stretch more and when you think you have done enough, DO MORE. I felt an immediate relief from that and felt even stronger.

To that testament of feeling stronger I ran my first 10 miles and the only issue I ran into were blisters. The culprit for the blisters were the socks I ran in and I have since gotten the correct pair for longer runs and we are cooking with gasoline now.

Reminder to listen to music that gets you out of your seat and has you in full karaoke mode.
