Hey Friends,

As I sit down to write this, I'm reflecting on the past week. You might have noticed there was no post last week, and there's a good reason for that. A few people reached out, wondering why there wasn't a post. The truth is, I had an idea of what I wanted to talk about, but it was a busy weekend, graduations and their respective parties and I didn't want to force it. Sometimes, you just have to let things flow naturally.

I still procrastinate quite a bit when it comes to writing my newsletter, but I always manage to get it done on time. This week, I took a step back and reminded myself of my limits, especially when it comes to studying. A conversation I had with a friend during Christmas break came to mind. We talked about sustainability, particularly when preparing for exams or any kind of performance. If you push yourself too hard, you're likely to burn out and lose motivation.

Reflecting on this, I remembered being 12 or 13 years old, playing PlayStation with my friends. The only indication it was time to stop was when my eyes became bloodshot or felt too strained to move. Back then, I didn't care about my eyes. I thought they would recover. But now, I realize you can't get a new pair of eyes from Walmart. These days, my eyes are strained from studying and staring at screens for hours. I still get at least seven hours of sleep, but the screen time takes its toll. It's important to recognize when your body needs rest and to give it the time it needs to recover. If you don't, your body will force you to rest eventually. So, listen to your body and don't overexert yourself.

In other news, I've been keeping up with the NBA playoffs, something I'm passionate about every spring and summer. This year's playoffs have been incredibly competitive and different from previous years. Without stars like Steph Curry or LeBron James, it's harder to predict the outcome, which is refreshing. It's exciting to see new faces and get a glimpse of the future of the league.

This shift in the NBA parallels our generation entering the workforce. We're bringing new ideas and standards, just as new players are stepping up in the league. For instance, the Timberwolves are losing to the Mavericks in a series that has been close until now. It's been thrilling to watch, especially seeing Anthony Edwards, who is so young yet carries himself with humility and positivity. No matter the outcome, there's always something positive to take away, and that's a mindset I've tried to adopt as well.

Peace,

Zechariah Davis
