Dear Scholars,

This week was very interesting, the overarching theme seemed to be friendship.

"It can be stated without a doubt that we all seek companionship, or we simply do not want to end up alone. This is just human nature. Our brains are too complex to hold our thoughts to ourselves alone. We must share them with the world, so to speak. This is where our friends come in handy - rain or shine, a good friend will always be a phone call or text away. We have all had a moment where we have made a decision in our head but need to seek external validation from our closest friend for reassurance. This friend holds the power of the world in their response.”

"Just as with birth, we have no choice over our friends. Your closest friend may be the person who hit you in the back of the head with a soccer ball in third grade - yes, this is the case for me. However, this idea can be seen in most friendships. This 'trauma bond' brings two individuals closer together.” This highlights the role that chance, and circumstance can play in our relationships, and it reminds us that sometimes the people we're closest to are the ones we least expect.
